TECHNIQUES TO FACILITATE THE COURT PRESENTATION OF FINGERPRINTS USED BY THE PALM BEACH COUNTY, CALIFORNIA SHERIFF'S OFFICE.
Abstract
WHEN FINGERPRINT EVIDENCE IS PRESENTED TO JURIES, THE IMPRESSIONS ARE ENLARGED AND FRAMED IN AN OUTLINE WHICH BORDERS THE SIDES AND ALLOWS FOR LATER PLACEMENT OF NUMBERS AND LETTERS. THE ENLARGEMENTS ARE CALIBRATED TO THE CORRECT SIZE AND ANGLE. TIME SAVING AND DEMONSTRATIVE TECHNIQUES INCLUDE THE USE OF TRANSFER TAPE PRE-PRINTED WITH THE TERMS 'LATENT PRINT' OR 'INKED PRINT', COLOR INDICATORS TO PINPOINT CHARACTERISTICS, PLASTIC OVERLAYS, AND 11 BY 14 COLOR PRINTS.
