Central Texas Domestic Abuse Victim Honored
Carolyn Thomas, a Waco woman whose faced was mutilated by a point-blank gunshot fired by her former boyfriend, received the U.S. Department of Justice's "Special Courage" award presented by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Thomas was recognized for speaking out against domestic violence. The award was presented in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of National Crime Victims Rights Week.
