2006 Community Awareness Programs
Each year, local jurisdictions throughout the United States commemorate National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) by hosting public events to help raise awareness about victims' rights and services. In 2006, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) competitively selected 64 jurisdictions to receive financial support for partial reimbursement of expenses incurred in promoting awareness during NCVRW.
Organizations chosen collaborated with a variety of agencies and service providers to host public events or partner with the news media to educate the public about the rights and services available to all types of crime victims.
These creative initiatives can be easily adapted to different jurisdictions, as well as to the 2007 NCVRW theme, Victims' Rights: Every Victim. Every Time. View the awareness initiatives by state below.
