The United Arab Emirates court system provides financial compensation to victims of violent or personal crime.

Eligibility Requirements
Report to Police: Yes; within 3 years.
Filing Period: No time limit; exceptions are made.

Claimants

Procedures

The victim must report the crime to the police within 3 years of its occurrence. The claimant can obtain an application for compensation from the police. The police will then send the case to the G.P. within 48 hours after which it will be sent to the court of hearing.

The claimant will receive notification of the court's decision within 1 week. Compensation will be paid within 1 month of the court's decision.

There is no maximum award limit.
