    The AARP serves members through legislative representation, occupational and community service programs, and direct membership benefits. Criminal Justice Services, an affiliated organization, addresses crime against the elderly with a major focus on abuse prevention. Can provide elderly victims with information on the characteristices of abuse and maltreatment, prevention of elder abuse, and state and local resources.

    Provides training and technical assistance to adult protective service and aging agencies. Develops and disseminates information packets of 30 publications on elder abuse, geared toward professional researchers and service providers. Publishes a quarterly newsletter and operates a Clearinghouse on Abuse and Neglect of the Elderly (CANE). Provides an automated information search and retrieval system and conducts research studies of national significance.
