Please respond to the following questions
additional 8x11 sheets may be attached if necessary

1. DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THAT VOCA FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR PROGRAM'S ABILITY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF CRIME
   VICTIMS.
VOCA funds are essential to our programs ability to meet the needs of crime victims. The State of New Jersey Victims of Crime Compensation Office's (NJ VCCO) main objective is to provide compensation to crime victims for some expenses they suffer as a result of the crime. The compensation comes in the form of financial assistance to cover crime related expenses such as, medical, mental health, loss of support or earnings, funeral expenses, housing and relocation. The majority of the money provided to crime victims comes from the VOCA Compensation grant. Without this funding we would not be performing our basic function.

2. HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR PROGRAM'S EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS IN REDUCING THE FINANCIAL IMPACT
OF CRIME ON VICTIMS? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?
The NJ VCCO is able to measure its program's efficiency and effectiveness by comparing the average dollars paid out on claims, claims concluded and new claims received from one year to the next. The processing time is an automated mesaurement and begins when a claim contains all the required paperwork necessary to consider it for eligibility. Our results are as follows:

Dollar Amount of Claims Paid: 17.1m(FY 2004) 14.0m(FY 2005) 14.4m(FY 2006) 16.5m(FY 2007) 10.2m(FY 2008)

Claims Concluded: 4,364(FY 2004) 3,761(FY 2005) 4,405(FY 2006) 4,523(FY2007)3,309(FY 2008)

New Claims Received: 3,301(FY 2004) 3,707(FY 2005) 4,195(FY 2006) 3,990(FY 2007) 4,198(FY 2008)

3. DID YOUR STATE USE VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS?   Yes
IF YOUR STATE USED VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THESE FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR
STATE'S ABILITY TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION OR IMPROVE VICTIM SERVICES.
Our State use of VOCA Administrative Funds is as follows: Staff salaries, information technology and operations. The use of VOCA Administrative Funds has positively impacted our ability to compensate victims and to improve our services.

Basic needs like staff salaries and operational costs(office supplies) enable us to provide services to crime victims.
