Please respond to the following questions
additional 8x11 sheets may be attached if necessary

1. DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THAT VOCA FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR PROGRAM'S ABILITY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF CRIME
   VICTIMS.
As the costs of medical, mental health, funeral expenses and other victims services, it would be literally impossible to provide adequate compensation to crime victims in Kansas without VOCA funds.

Our outreach activities have increased, including extensive contact within the Native American community. CVCB applications are available in English and Spanish and some literature is available online through the Attorney General's website.

Over the past several years there has been a significant increase in applications received as well as an increase in payouts. VOCA funds allow our program to provide victims in Kansas with the best level of service we are able to provide.

2. HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR PROGRAM'S EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS IN REDUCING THE FINANCIAL IMPACT
OF CRIME ON VICTIMS? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?
Processing time for claims is crucial, so we are constantly trying to find ways to make the application process as easy as possible. Our claims are processed on a monthly basis and claimants are informed that claims processing averages about 3 months; however, most of our claims are processed in two months or less.

We are in the process of procuring a new database system that will decrease processing time and improve efficiency.

3. DID YOUR STATE USE VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS?   Yes
IF YOUR STATE USED VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THESE FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR
STATE'S ABILITY TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION OR IMPROVE VICTIM SERVICES.
VOCA funds have been used to support the full-time staff position of Restitution Specialist, a position essential to securing funds for compensation in years to come.
