Beginning in Fiscal Year 2003, OVC grant applicants can
apply for discretionary and formula, new and continuation grants using
the online Grants Management
System (GMS) of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP).
OVC will continue to post its program plan and
solicitations online, but will not publish hardcopies of the program
plan or application kits.
GMS Advantages
OJP and grant applicants note these advantages to using the Grants Management
System (GMS):
- Expedites and streamlines the receipt, review, and processing of
grant applications.
- Eliminates the need to make duplicate copies of applications.
- Eliminates time delays and costs associated with postal and other
courier services.
- Provides online access to application status.
- Provides information about all funding available from OVC and OJP.
- Permits the applicant to make modifications to an application before
submission as well as to respond to requests for additional information
online after submission at the request of the funding agency.
- Contributes to more timely processing of applications for funding
and award documents.
- Allows grantees to file Categorical Assistance Progress Reports
online.
GMS Help
Built into the system are "job aids"that describe the required
information for each information field for GMS applications. OJP also
provides a toll-free number for users needing technical support if a problem
using the system arises. A set of FAQs
on GMS is also available.
Sign Up To Recieve News About Funding and GMS
OVC is creating a listserv for potential funding applicants. This listserv
will be used to notify members when the program plan and solicitations
are posted on our Web site and provide additional information regarding
the implementation of GMS.
If you would like to have your organization added to the listserv, please
forward the appropriate name, phone number, and e-mail address to: William
Sherman, Listserv Administrator at ShermanW@ojp.usdoj.gov.
