by Kristen Zgoba, Karen BacharApril 2009

Sex Offender Registration and Notification: Limited Effects in New Jersey summarizes the findings of an independent scientific assessment of the effects of “Megan’s Law” in New Jersey. The primary goal of the study was to examine the impact of the law on New Jersey as a whole and each county within the state. Megan’s Law is the collective name for legislation in all 50 states and the District of Columbia that requires the public to be notified of the presence of sex offenders in their community. The In Short includes a link to the full study report.
