NIJ has three openings for deputy chiefs in the Office of Research and Evaluation. All three openings are reserved for current federal employees, all are GS-14 positions, and all are called "Supervisory Social Science Analyst."
Responsibilities are the same for all three positions:
- Managing staff assignments, schedules and evaluations.
- Assisting the Chief in planning, developing strategy and allocating resources.
- Supervising grant review, grant selection, grantee assistance and oversight, and developing and implementing grant results and final reports.
- Monitoring, tracking, and recording grant data and assembling it into required government reports.
The positions are in three divisions:
- Crime Prevention and Control Research Division develops innovative solutions to the problems of crime control and prevention in areas including police use of force, crime mapping and analysis for public safety, and gang and gun violence prevention. Announcement number: JP-08-080-MP
- Violence and Victimization Research Division works to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the criminal justice system’s response to violence and victimization in areas including domestic/intimate partner violence, elder mistreatment and tribal crime and justice. - Justice Systems Research Division promotes research about institutional and community corrections, courts and sentencing. Research areas include criminal courts, offender reentry and corrections population management. Announcement number: JP-08-083-MP.
