Reentry
With the tremendous growth in the prison population over the last several decades, and costs for and rates of incarceration quickly becoming unsustainable, policymakers and legislators at all levels are looking at ways to ease the transition of offenders back into their communities. OJP is helping to lead the way. Through its administration of programs under the Second Chance Act, OJP’s Bureau of Justice Assistance is working to provide mentoring, job training, substance abuse treatment, and other services to help returning offenders transition successfully.
