Abstract
THIS REPORT IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR PARTS. PART ONE IS A DISCUSSION OF PROBATION - ITS HISTORY, DEVELOPMENT, LAWS (UNITED STATES AND GREAT BRITAIN), STANDARDS, PROCEDURES, AND ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION. PART TWO CONSIDERS JUVENILE PROBATION AND AFTER-CARE. THE HISTORY, DEVELOPMENT, LAWS, STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES COVERING ADULT PAROLE ARE DEALT WITH IN PART THREE. IN PART FOUR, PROBATION AND PAROLE ARE EXAMINED JOINTLY IN RELATION TO RECORD KEEPING, METHODS OF SUPERVISION, RESULTS, AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER, SEVERAL PROBLEMS FOR DISCUSSION ARE GIVEN ALONG WITH SOME SUGGESTED READINGS ON SPECIFIC AREAS. A GLOSSARY OF COMMONLY USED COURT AND CORRECTIONS TERMS IS INCLUDED AT THE END OF THIS VOLUME. AN ALPHABETICAL INDEX IS ALSO PROVIDED.
