For persons under age 14, the homicide victimization rate began at 1.8 in 1976 and increased to 1.9 in 1977. After 1977, the rate decreased to 1.8 in 1980, before rising to 2.0 in 1982. Then it decreased to 1.7 in 1984, before increasing to 2.2 in 1993. Then the rate dropped to 1.4 in 2000, before increasing to 1.5 in 2001, where it remained constant until 2002. It then decreased to 1.4 in 2003, where it remained constant until 2005.

For persons ages 14 to 17, the homicide victimization rate began at 4.5 in 1976 and increased to 5.9 in 1980. After 1980, the rate decreased to 4.2 in 1984, before increasing, reaching a high of 12.1 in 1993. It then fell to 4.3 in 2003, before rising to 4.8 in 2005.

For persons ages 18 to 24, the homicide victimization rate began at 13.8 in 1976 and rose, reaching 17.5 in 1980. After 1980, the rate decreased to 13.2 in 1984, where it remained constant until 1985. After 1985, it climbed to 24.4 in 1993, before decreasing to 14.3 in 2004. Then the rate increased to 14.9 in 2005.

For persons ages 25 to 34, the homicide victimization rate began at 15.4 in 1976 and rose to 18.5 in 1980. After 1980, the rate decreased to 9.9 in 1999, before increasing to 11.6 in 2005.

For persons ages 35 to 49, the homicide victimization rate began at 12.6 in 1976 and fell, reaching 12.2 in 1978. After 1978, the rate rose to 13.2 in 1980, before falling to a low of 5.6 in 2001. After 2001, it climbed to 5.7 in 2002, where it remained constant until 2003. After 2003, the rate decreased to 5.6 in 2004, before increasing to 5.7 in 2005.

For persons ages 50 and older, the homicide victimization rate began at 6.8 in 1976 and decreased to 6.3 in 1978. Then the rate increased to 6.8 in 1980, before decreasing to a low of 2.5 in 2000. Then it increased to 2.6 in 2001, before decreasing, reaching 2.5 in 2002. The rate then rose, reaching 2.6 in 2003, where it remained constant until 2005.
