National Criminal History Improvement Program: Fiscal Year 1996 Program Announcement

The fiscal year 1996 National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) announcement describes procedures for applying for continuation funding under the BJS-administered program. Consistent with the fiscal year 1996 appropriation, 1996 NCHIP program funds support implementation of grant requirements under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (Brady Act), the National Child Protection Act of 1993 (NCPA), and the National Stalker Reduction and Domestic Violence Reduction provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (Stalker Reduction program). For fiscal year 1996, $25 million was appropriated for Brady Act and NCPA grants. The appropriation for the Stalker Reduction program was $1.5 Million. 5/96. NCJ-161135
