Over the past 5 years, the level of funding, provided by annual Congressional appropriations, for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG) Program has declined. Between FYs 2001 and 2003, the funding has declined from $418 to $260 million. As a result with each reduction in funding, some jurisdictions received smaller grant awards, while others became ineligible for direct awards from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).
