FY 2002 DRUG COURT GRANT PROGRAM

New York State Unified Court System - Westchester County
Yonkers, NY

AWARD AMOUNT:

$393,674*

PURPOSE: The Yonkers Drug Treatment Court will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court in an urban jurisdiction. The court will serve 200 misdemeanor and felony nonviolent offenders annually. The program will last approximately 12 months, and it will operate a post- adjudication model. The program will provide intensive judicial supervision, sanctions and incentives, mandatory drug testing, and aftercare services through the use of a 3-phase structure. The court has established relationships with 30 local substance abuse service providers, the NYS Unified Court System, the Yonkers Private Industry Council, Yonkers Chamber of Commerce, and the faith community. The court will conduct process and outcome evaluations, which will evaluate the court's operations and impact on the surrounding community. The court will utilize the NYS Universal Treatment Application, which allows the court to maintain a uniform database throughout the state, while allowing flexibility to suit the needs of the local court.
