PURPOSE: The State of Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts will use grant funds
to implement an adult drug court in a suburban and rural jurisdiction. The court will serve
felony substance-abusing offenders. The program will serve 200 adults and family members
over a 3-year period. The program will last approximately 12 months and will operate a
combined pre-adjudication, post-adjudication, and deferred prosecution model. The program
will provide defendants intensive judicial supervision, treatment, sanctions and incentives,
mandatory drug testing, and aftercare. The drug court program is designed to achieve recovery,
eliminate criminal behavior, decrease costs to the community, and increase public safety. The
court will conduct process and outcome evaluations to evaluate the court's operations and impact
on the surrounding community. The court has established relationships with the John I. Easley
Criminal Justice Center, Vision Ministries, Community Housing Partnership, WorkForce
Essentials, Inc., Williamson County Literacy Council, the District Attorney General, Behavioral
Health Care Systems, Office of Public Defender, the Guidance Center, Inc., and Williamson
County Sheriff's Office.
