FY 2002 DRUG COURT GRANT PROGRAM

Adult Implementation Grant Award

Kentucky

AWARD RECIPIENT:

Administrative Office of the Courts - Trigg, Caldwell, Lyon, and Livingston Counties
Frankfort, KY

AWARD AMOUNT:

$500,000*

PURPOSE: The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) will use grant funds to implement a drug court in the 56th Judicial District, which consists of Trigg, Caldwell, Lyon, and Livingston Counties. The program will serve approximately 200 nonviolent, substance-abusing, male and female adult offenders in a 12 to 24-month post-adjudication program over a 3-year period. Program services will include early, continuous, and intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, incentives, and other rehabilitative services such as education, primary health care, housing, employment, and aftercare. The AOC 56th Judicial District drug court's goals include reducing recidivism, increasing employability and education level, providing safe and sober housing, and improving family functioning. The drug court will implement a management information system (MIS) to collect and maintain data necessary for program planning, operations, and evaluation. An independent evaluator will conduct process and outcome evaluations to measure program effectiveness. The 56th Judicial District will coordinate with state and local organizations such as Livingston County Health Department, Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children, the faith community, the University of Kentucky Extension Service, and the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research at the University of Kentucky.
