AWARD AMOUNT:

$490,850*

PURPOSE: The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court, which targets nonviolent, substance-abusing adult offenders. The primary goal of the program is to break the cycle of criminal activity and chemical dependency confronted by substance abusers. The program will serve 150 clients over a 3-year period. Clients will be expected to participate in the program for a minimum of 18 months. The drug court will provide intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, aftercare, and other rehabilitative services. Additionally, a management information system will be utilized to monitor client progress and to conduct process and outcome evaluations. The program will provide collateral services such as transportation, mental and primary health care, and educational services. The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court will coordinate its efforts with the following agencies: the Missouri Employment Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Preferred Family Healthcare, Linn and Sullivan County Health Departments, and the Department of Corrections.
