AWARD AMOUNT:

$500,000*

PURPOSE: The Lane County Juvenile Drug Court will use grant funds to implement a juvenile drug court, which targets nonviolent, substance-abusing juvenile offenders. The goals of the program are to enhance public safety by reducing substance abuse, provide strength-based treatment, and evaluate the program's effectiveness. The program will serve 300 juveniles and 375 family members over a 3-year period. Clients will be expected to participate in the program for a minimum of 10 months. The drug court will provide intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, aftercare, and other rehabilitative services. Additionally, a management information system will be utilized to monitor client progress and to conduct process and outcome evaluations. The program will provide collateral services such as tutoring, transportation, recreation, employability training, mental and primary health care, and educational services. The Lane County Juvenile Drug Court will coordinate its efforts with the following agencies: the Lane County District Attorney's Office, Public Defenders Services of Lane County, Springfield Public Schools, ACES, the Center For Family Development, and the University of Oregon.
