AWARD AMOUNT:

$480,169*

PURPOSE: The Forty-Fourth Judicial Drug Court Team will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court, which targets nonviolent, substance-abusing adult offenders. The primary goal of the program is to break the cycle of criminal activity and chemical dependency confronted by substance abusers. The program will serve 140 to150 clients over a 3-year period. Clients are expected to participate in the program for a minimum of 12 to18 months. The drug court will provide intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, aftercare, and other rehabilitative services. Additionally, a management information system will be utilized to monitor client progress and to conduct process and outcome evaluations. The program will provide collateral services such as housing, transportation, mental and primary health care, and educational services. The Forty-Fourth Judicial Drug Court will coordinate its efforts with the following agencies: Ozark Action Inc., Southwest Missouri State University, South Central Missouri Rehabilitation Center, and the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce.
