PURPOSE: The Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services will use grant
funds to provide comprehensive, state-of- the-art training on juvenile drug court operations and
treatment issues for all juvenile drug courts in the state's multi-site drug court system. Sixteen

Drug Treatment Court's (MJDTC) judges employ the most current "best practices" with regard
to the operation of their juvenile drug treatment courts and understand the fundamentals of
addiction and treatment; (2) to ensure that drug court partners foster better collaboration and
develop better understanding of each other's mission and operations; (3) to train new judges to
provide back-up for existing judges; and (4) to facilitate and monitor the implementation of
Maine's new standard of care for juvenile substance abuse treatment throughout the MJDTC
