Putting the Evaluation Findings To Work

  • Address attrition in sex offender programs to increase the number of offenders completing treatment.
  • Monitor treatment progress and identify which offender and offense characteristics predict treatment failure.
  • Develop measures to effectively track high-risk sex offenders who are more likely to drop out or be expelled from treatment.
  • Use valid and reliable sex offender screening and assessment instruments to determine which offenders are at high risk and more likely to drop out of treatment.
  • Design programs that target specific types of sex offenders.
  • Encourage adequate and complete collection of data for sex offender registries.
  • Promote collaborative efforts to develop, enhance, and implement evidence-based management, treatment, and supervision programs for sex offenders.
