Putting the Evaluation Findings To Work

Identify eligible participants as soon as possible after arrest for prompt placement in the drug court program
Establish abstinence from drug use as a primary objective for participants
Monitor compliance by frequent drug and alcohol testing
Provide access to a continuum of intensive substance abuse treatment beginning immediately upon placement in the drug court program
Implement graduated sanctions for drug use and program noncompliance and rewards for following program rules
Insure proper training for drug court personnel to effectively interact with and address the types of problems experienced by offenders
Provide a variety of aftercare programs (vocational, educational, family, medical, and other support services) to help maintain changes achieved during program participation
