Putting the Evaluation Findings to Work

Develop criteria to identify eligible offenders most likely to benefit from the program.
Assess community needs to ensure a good fit between those needs and the nature of the program.
Involve the community in the planning and implementation of the program.
Provide rewards for successful completion of program phases.
Develop a system of graduated sanctions for holding offenders accountable for their actions during program participation.
Establish appropriate aftercare/follow-up programs.
Develop strategies for involving community members in the day-to-day activities of the program.
Hire staff who are familiar with the community and with addressing the needs of the offenders.
