Putting the Evaluation Findings to Work
- Develop criteria to identify eligible offenders most likely to benefit from the program.
- Assess community needs to ensure a good fit between those needs and the nature of the program.
- Involve the community in the planning and implementation of the program.
- Provide rewards for successful completion of program phases.
- Develop a system of graduated sanctions for holding offenders accountable for their actions during program participation.
- Establish appropriate aftercare/follow-up programs.
- Develop strategies for involving community members in the day-to-day activities of the program.
- Hire staff who are familiar with the community and with addressing the needs of the offenders.
